Dryers are often run conservatively in practice — setpoint well above target drying so that final moisture is correct even with varying material.
With density-independent inline moisture measurement at the dryer outlet, the setpoint can be moved closer to the target value. Typically 5–15 % lower energy intake.
For a 200,000 m³/year MDF line, 10 % energy savings quickly add up to six-figure amounts per year.
