PTB-traceable calibration

PTB-traceable calibration

JD Jörn Döscher · M.Eng. · 30 years of microwave measurement · 2 min read

Definition. What traceable calibration means and why it matters for auditors.

Traceable calibration means: The measurement reference can be tracked back without gaps to national standards — in Germany the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB).

At Döscher, we calibrate against traceable references. Every delivered sensor receives a calibration protocol with traceability chain.

Important for ISO 9001 audits, IFS Food, FSSC 22000, and all process-relevant audits in food and chemical industries.

FAQ

How often to re-calibrate? +

Recommendation: factory calibration once a year. On-site offset on material change is often sufficient.

Practical tip

Need concrete help for your line?

Three data points — material, temperature, position — are enough for a first sensor recommendation.
